Wilson, NC – Searching for their first win of the season, the North Greenville women’s soccer team dropped a hard-fought conference matchup with Barton College 1-0 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders and Bulldogs were scoreless through each half of play, forcing overtime to deiced the outcome.
Barton’s Taylor Parrish scored her second goal of the season just two minutes into the extra period, handing the Crusaders their third Conference Carolinas loss of the season.
Starting goalkeeper Taylor Kelley recorded four saves in a stellar first half performance, but was pulled from the game in favor of senior Krista Young who recorded one save in the final 47 minutes of play as the Crusaders outshot Barton 17-10 in the game.
"It is never too late to turn the season around," said head coach Rachel Baer. "We just have some things to tweak and I know exactly what that is now. I believe in my girls more than they possibly believe in themselves. We are not done yet."
The Crusaders (0-6, 0-3 in conference) will conclude their three-game road trip on Wednesday, Sept. 26 as they travel to Bristol, TN for a matchup with King College at 2 p.m.
