Calera, AL – In their first match of the 2012 season, the North Greenville men’s golf team earned a 5th place finish in the Full Moon Bar-B-Que Montevallo Invitational hosted by the University of Montevallo.
The University of Montevallo recorded the lowest total team score on its home course to earn the team title with a two-day score 283-284-567, an impressive 13 strokes ahead of second place University of West Georgia (295-285-580). Shorter University (290-292-582), Wingate University (292-297-589) and North Greenville (300-293-593) rounded out the Top 5 in the team standings.
In the individual standings, Montevallo’ s Conner Godsey earned the win, staying under par each day with a two-day total of 70-66-136, a narrow victory over teammate Dalton Skinner who shot a total score of 68-71-139 to finish in second place.
For the Crusaders, Danny Dippel recorded a Top 10 finish, finishing tied for 8th with a total score of 73-72-145, while Adam Black earned a tie for 13th place with a score of 72-75-147. Joshua Hopwood finished just three shots back of Black, recording a 21st place finish with a score of 77-73-150. Tucker MacDonald shot a two-day total of 81-73-154 to earn a tie for 27th place, while Ognjen Radovic shot 78-81-159 to finish in 35th place overall.
The Crusaders will be in action again on Sept. 24-25 as they travel to Greeneville, TN to compete in the Tusculum Fall Classic.
