Rob Warren is entering his eighth season as the head assistant men’s basketball coach at North Greenville University.  Warren assists with all aspects of the program, including recruiting, on-floor coaching, scouting opponents, preseason conditioning, and following the team’s academic progress.

Formerly, Warren was an adjunct professor of Western Civilization in the North Greenville University History Department.  Currently, he serves as the director of the Crusaders’ student-athlete academic assistance program.

Warren, like head coach Chad Lister, began his coaching career while still a student at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.  During the 2000-01 school year, he volunteered as an assistant coach for both the varsity and junior varsity boys’ basketball teams at Eastside High School in Taylors, South Carolina.

For the following season, 2001-02, Warren was promoted to the head junior varsity boys’ basketball at Eastside, serving in an adjunct capacity while working as an intern in the Sports Information and Game Operations offices at Furman University.  While at Furman, Warren helped coordinate the 2001 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Cross Country National Championships and the first and second rounds of the 2002 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament at the Bi-Lo Center.

When Lister took the coaching job at North Greenville in the summer of 2002, he invited Warren to join his staff as the head assistant coach, a position in which Warren has served for the past seven seasons.

Warren was born on October 9, 1978, in Goldsboro, North Carolina.  A 1997 graduate of Irmo High School in Columbia, South Carolina, he was a member of Yellow Jacket basketball teams that won the 1995 state championship, and finished runners-up in 1996.  Warren earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Furman University in 2001 and a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Converse College in 2004.

Warren has been married to the former Amanda Brackett of Columbia, South Carolina, since 2003.  Amanda is currently the Employment Readiness Team Leader for United Ministries in Greenville, South Carolina.  They have one son: Zach.
